Microblogging giant, Twitter is now testing a new feature that enables users to get the vibe of a conversation before they join in. The company is testing new Twitter prompts on both Android and iOS apps, as announced today. The latest Twitter prompts feature will warn users before they get included in heated or intense conversations.
The feature will appear below certain tweets on the platform and so that users are aware of it before diving into the replies. The social media company has further provided an example to explain the new Twitter prompts that appear right in the middle of heated or intense conversations with the message, “Conversations like this can be intense.”
Twitter is Promoting Mutual Respect by Controlling Heated or Intense Conversations
Twitter made the announcement through its official Support handle. “We’re testing prompts on Android and iOS that give you a heads up if the convo you’re about to enter could get heated or intense”, Twitter said. The company has provided screenshots with examples of heated or intense conversations too. “Conversations like this can be intense,” shows one example, while the second one states “Let’s look out for each other” with three bullet points emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and fact-based discussions, along with a quick link to Twitter’s rules.

Furthermore, Twitter’s standards to determine which heated or intense conversations would present the prompt may change after the testing phase. The company also said that it may consider the tweet topic and the connection between the Tweet author and replier in displaying the prompt. Though, Twitter has not shared when the launch of the new Twitter prompt feature will take place.

Twitter is Also Looking to Test Social Privacy-Related Tools
In addition to controlling heated or intense conversations, Twitter is eyeing to test new social privacy-related features to provide users control over their follower lists. The social privacy features include details such as a person’s list of followers, the tweets they like, and whether their accounts are public or private.
