Microblogging giant, Twitter has now expanded Twitter Spaces to all users. The Twitter Spaces team on Thursday announced that the users on both Android and iOS will now be able to host their own chat room. The Clubhouse-like feature, which enables users to create public and private audio chat rooms on the microblogging platform, was first launched last year for select groups.
Initially Twitter Spaces Was Only for Users with Over 600 Followers or More
Moreover, Twitter Spaces is now finally reaching a broader audience. Initially, only users who had over 600 followers on the platform could host Twitter Spaces. Now, all users — irrespective of the number of followers — can host discussions on Twitter.

Furthermore, the Spaces team on October 21 tweeted regarding the update. Users can host a Space by a long pressing on the Compose button on their timeline and then selecting the Cluster of dots icon. Users can tap Start your Space to switch on the mic. Spaces can include up to 11 speakers at a time.

Moreover, when anyone begins or speaks in a Space, it will display at the top of the timeline with a Purple bubble for as long as it is live on Twitter for Android and iOS. When a user joins a Twitter Space as a listener, the user can react with emojis, check out any pinned Tweets, follow along with captions, Tweet or direct message the Space host, or request to speak.
Audio-Based Social Networking Brought Huge User Traction
The company began rolling out Twitter Spaces in late 2020 when audio-based social networking was interesting huge user traction across the globe. However, its testing had been limited to only iOS, which then expanded to include Android users in March this year. Since then, Twitter has been occupied releasing a series of new features for Spaces that rivals the Clubhouse app.
In addition to this, back in May this year, Spaces reached the Web, and in September, Twitter updated Spaces with recording and replays features, to enable people to listen to audio talks after they occur. However, some features are bound to the Spaces mobile apps only, but the company is actively working on delivering more to the Web app.
