Former US President Donald Trump’s new social app, Truth Social, is to launch on iOS on February 21st, as per the listings on the App Store. Truth Social app is being developed by the Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG); Trump’s latest media firm directed by former US Rep. Devin Nunes.
Truth Social App Appears to be a Twitter Clone
Truth Social appears to be very much like Twitter, according to the screenshots in the App Store listing. The profile page exhibited in one of the screenshots looks almost exactly like Twitter’s, and posts appear to have icons for responses, retweets, faves, and sharing. The social network’s Twitter-like design is almost assuredly no accident. Twitter was Trump’s favored megaphone for years until he was permanently banned in January 2021 shortly after the January 6th insurrection on the US Capitol.
Moreover, back in May Donald trump rolled out what was essentially a blog where he posted pithy Twitter-length remarks, but it wasn’t nearly as popular as his former Twitter account and was shut down less than a month after it was established. Trump registered a lawsuit against Twitter in October in an attempt to reinstate his account. It’s unclear if February 21st is also when the app will be open on the web and/or Android.

Trump’s Social Network Might be an Invite-Only Social App
Users can visit the website of Truth Social, there’s only a button to preorder the free Truth Social app on the App Store and a form they can fill out to join a waiting list. It’s also unclear whether the social network, Truth Social will be invite-only when it rolls out. Trump’s social app has already rolled out in beta for “invited guests only,” Trump said as part of a December announcement about TMTG’s association with the video-sharing site Rumble.
