Twitter is reportedly working on a new feature called Twitter Articles, that will allow users to write and post long-form articles. Twitter’s character limit per tweet, was used to be 140 characters which then went up to 280 in 2017. A company spokesperson told CNET in an emailed statement that it is always looking into new ways to help people start and engage in conversations.

Jane Wong spotted the Twitter Articles feature
Jane Wong, an app researcher, first discovered the Twitter Articles feature who showed a hidden menu on the social network’s website dedicated to the new Articles feature. A screenshot shared by Wong shows that users will have the option to “Create a Twitter Article,” which implies that the feature won’t be restricted to certain categories of accounts.

It’s unclear whether this feature would roll out to everyone for free, or stay hidden behind the Twitter Blue, where subscribers have to pay to create long-form posts that they can then share in the app. The social network last year launched its exclusive service, offering its paid subscribers the ability to undo tweets, bookmark posts, and convert threads into an article-like reader mode.
Twitter begins global testing of the downvote button
Twitter is testing the downvote button with a selected number of people that serves as a way to give feedback on offensive tweets. The company said in a statement; “We are still in the learning stage of this experiment and are looking to gain a better understanding of how Reply Downvoting could help us better surface the most relevant content for people on Twitter in the future.”
