National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a premier biometric identification called ‘Nadir’ With the launch of its cutting-edge Automated Finger Identification System (AFIS) for civil purposes, the authority has achieved a significant milestone of indigenously developing and incorporating this state-of-the-art AFIS into its suite of technology solutions, said NADRA.
What is the purpose of Nadir?
According to the chairman of NADRA, Tariq Malik, NADIR is expected to revolutionize the biometric identification system. He claimed that this technology is expected to transform the way biometric identification is used in civil applications. The chairman further added that NADIR’s accuracy rate has been tested and proven to exceed 99.5% based on the Fingerprint Verification Competition (FVC), an internationally acclaimed benchmarking conducted in Italy.

With Nadir’s advanced technology, NADRA can now accurately and quickly store fingerprints and identify individuals for a wide range of purposes as a public good, from immigration to border control to social services. “NADIR, as a pioneering achievement in the field of biometric identification technology, underscores the organization’s commitment to innovation and further solidifies its position as a global leader in advanced identity management solutions,” reads the statement.
