The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has extended the availability of e-passports to all passport offices nationwide. E-Passports Reach All Corners
Initially introduced in Islamabad earlier this year, e-passports were initially reserved for diplomatic and government personnel. However, a decisive announcement by former Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah heralded a paradigm shift. The e-passport service was expanded to encompass not only the capital’s residents but also individuals from every corner of the nation. The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports proudly took to Twitter last month to celebrate the successful printing and dispatch of the inaugural passport issued through the innovative Inland Online Application process.

The New E-Passport Fee Schedule
In order to modernize administrative procedures, the directorate has released the official fee schedule for the newly introduced e-passports. This fee structure delineates the costs of acquiring e-passports of varying durations and pages. The schedule, effective from August 16th, outlines the following rates:
– For a 5-year e-passport with 36 pages: Normal fee – Rs9,000; Urgent fee – Rs15,000.
– For a 5-year e-passport with 72 pages: Normal fee – Rs16,500; Urgent fee – Rs27,000.
– For a 10-year e-passport with 36 pages: Normal fee – Rs13,500; Urgent fee – Rs22,500.
– For a 10-year e-passport with 72 pages: Normal fee – Rs24,750; Urgent fee – Rs40,500.
It is noteworthy that the fee structure for traditional passports remains unaltered in accordance with the new schedule; this fee schedule not only facilitates transparency but also reflects a pivotal step towards embracing digitalization in administrative functions.
