In a press release, Axiom revealed that Prada’s role extends beyond aesthetics; they will leverage their expertise in materials and manufacturing to enhance the technical aspects of the space suit. While fashion and space exploration may seem worlds apart, Prada’s experience in working with advanced materials, gained from their involvement in events like the America’s Cup sailing competition, positions them as a valuable contributor to this project.

While it’s tempting to imagine astronauts donning paisley-patterned spacesuits, the reality is focused on functionality. As Professor Jeffrey Hoffman, a seasoned astronaut, pointed out, spacesuits are miniature spacecraft in their own right.
