Pakistan beat South Africa in the third ODI by 36 runs (DLS method) to secure a remarkable 3-0 series whitewash. The thrilling contest in Johannesburg showcased standout performances from Saim Ayub, who smashed his second century of the series, and debutant Sufyan Muqeem, who dismantled South Africa’s batting lineup with a four-wicket haul. The victory underlines Pakistan’s dominance throughout the series.
Pakistan Beat South Africa with Stellar Performances
After being sent in to bat by South Africa, Pakistan recovered from a shaky start with a golden duck dismissal for Abdullah Shafique. Saim Ayub and Babar Azam steadied the ship, constructing a 114-run partnership under challenging conditions. Saim’s explosive 101 runs off 94 balls and Babar’s steady 52 formed the backbone of Pakistan’s innings. Contributions from Mohammad Rizwan (53) and Salman Ali Agha (48) ensured Pakistan posted a formidable 308/9 in their allotted 47 overs.
South Africa’s bowling was led by Kagiso Rabada, who picked up three wickets, while Marco Jansen and Bjorn Fortuin claimed two each. Despite their efforts, Pakistan’s middle-order brilliance gave the visitors a solid total to defend.
South Africa Succumb to Pressure
Chasing 308, South Africa struggled to maintain momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals. Heinrich Klaasen’s valiant 81 off 43 balls and Corbin Bosch’s unbeaten 40 were the highlights for the hosts. However, the debutant Sufyan Muqeem’s four-wicket haul, supported by Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi’s two wickets each, proved too much for the South African lineup.
Pakistan’s bowlers delivered under pressure, bowling out the hosts for 271 runs in 42 overs. The commanding win sealed an emphatic series triumph for Pakistan, creating another milestone in their ODI journey.
