A recent Facebook post announcing the birth of a newborn in the Philippines has gone viral due to the child’s unique name given to him by his father who is a web designer by profession. Hypertext Mark-up Language Rayo Pascual – or HTML for short – was introduced to the world through a Facebook post from his aunt last Thursday.
The said post, which quickly went viral, has over 12,000 likes so far. However, the comment section of the post was filled with different reactions with some people trolling the newborn infant.
“This is downright psychological abuse,” one user wrote. Several users stated that naming the child ‘HTML’ could lead to him getting bullied at school. But the baby’s aunt did not consider this reason. Pascual took to Facebook and faced the negative commenters in a post stating, “People are so pathetic for normalizing bullying because of the name. Don’t worry, Hypertext Markup Language doesn’t make sense to preschool and grade-schoolers.”
However, HTML isn’t the first person in his family to get an unusual name. Apparently, naming babies with quirky names runs in the family. In an interview, the baby’s aunt Sincerely Pascual told that her brother Mac’s original name is Macaroni, while her sister’s name is Spaghetti, who has two children named Cheese Pimiento and Parmesan Cheese.
In addition, Tesla CEO Elon Musk and musician Grimes got a questioning response from the public when it was announced in May 2020 that their son would be named X Æ A-12 Musk. Moreover, around seventeen years ago, actress Gwyneth Paltrow and singer Chris Martin drew derision for naming their daughter Apple. While music iconic stars Beyonce and Jay Z were trolled back in 2012 for taking the name Blue Ivy for their first baby.
