One of the leading operators in Pakistan, Telenor has been granted a Rs1.36 billion contract by the Universal Service Fund (USF) to provide mobile broadband 4G services in Chaghi and Nushki regions of Balochistan province, which would serve 0.16 million people in 170 unserved mauzas covering 47,872 sq km in the region.
On Wednesday, a contract signing ceremony was hosted at the USF Office and was attended by the Federal IT Minister Syed Amin Ul Haque and Chairman of Senate Sadiq Sanjrani. The agreement was signed by USF CEO Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary and Telenor Pakistan CEO Irfan Wahab Khan.

Moreover, IT Minister Amin Ul Haque congratulated the teams of USF and Telenor for accomplishing this significant milestone, further stating that this project of 4G services was a stepping stone to produce uniformity of service across.

“The Digital Pakistan vision is all about bringing Pakistan closer together, ensuring that all parts of the country benefit from securing the jobs and opportunities of the future. People in Balochistan should not have to choose between their career and the way of life in their hometown”, stated the IT Minister.
High-Speed 4G Services for the People in Chaghi and Nushki Districts
Furthermore, the federal minister also stated that the high-speed broadband 4G services would ensure that people in Chaghi and Nushki districts were able to take advantage of the opportunities that were offered to them by the digital economy.
The minister further continued that following this project, the total number of projects for 14 districts of Balochistan for Rs8.43 billion has been increased to 11. The completion of these projects of 4G services would serve more than 2.2 million people from 2,024 villages of Bolan, Jaffarabad, Mastung, Ziarat, Kichh, Panjgur, Gwadar, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, and surrounding areas.
In addition to this, under this program, the provision of 4G services services on a 701km highway from NH25 to NH10 has been completed for Rs759 million. Meanwhile, projects worth Rs250 million on a 650km highway from NH25 to NH65, and more than Rs410 million on a 451km highway from NH50 to NH70 are still under completion process.
