Pakistanis are soon to observe a boost in internet speed as 9 fiber-optic broadband projects have been approved by IT Ministry.
It is said that IT Ministry has approved Rs. 8 Billion that is required to complete 9 fiber-optic projects. Completion of such projects will result in a boost in internet speed wide across Pakistan. After a meeting between the Universal service fund’s board of directors, the announcement came by the IT Ministry.
Mr. Syed Amin ul Haque directed the projects’ approval to materialize the Digital Pakistan vision, announced after the meeting took place between the following parties.
A great amount of difficulty is faced by people living in remote areas due to weak internet coverage provided to such areas. Signals are weak due to unorganized infrastructure. Work is in progress to bring such areas in accordance with the rest of Pakistan.
including tourist destinations such as Babusar Top, Swat, Karakoram highway, and Galyat, where faster internet will become possible through broadband services.
The project is said to bear laying fiber-optic cables and providing broadband services in all 4 provinces, benefiting 7.5 million people living areas across 40,000 km. One of the reasons behind approving these projects was to ensure the availability of mobile services and broadband 24/7, in case of emergencies. Such responsiveness will also result in the promotion of Northern Areas tourism.
To enhance the Digital Pakistan Vision, ensuring the fastest internet speed coverage throughout the nation is a key element in terms of achieving success. The formal announcement was made for Digital Pakistan Vision in 2019 through which Prime Minister Imran Khan intends to make Pakistan a Tech advanced and Tech friendly nation. A task force was also formed to achieve the defined targets named Strategic Reform and Implementation Unit (SRIU).
