Nafisa Kamal, a proud owner of the Bangladesh Premier League franchise Comilla Victorians, has shown interest in buying a franchise in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). A Bangladeshi journalist, Fahim Kamal, reported Nafisa’s interest in the league that currently caters to six franchises, including; Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators.

Nafisa Kamal and Her Most Successful Team in BPL

Comilla Victorians, who won their maiden title in 2015, is the most successful team in BPL history with four titles. The Victorians are also the current champions after winning against Sylhet Strikers in the 2023 final. Once Nafisa even expressed interest in buying Shaheen Afridi for the franchise, she said that if there was an opportunity, the management of Comilla would have brought in the Pakistan seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi. But, since there was no possibility to include Afridi, Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali and Sunil Narine were chosen outside of the draft.

Will PSL Have Another Franchise?

According to the agreement between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the current six franchises, it is unlikely that there will be more teams in the PSL during the next two seasons; however, there has been immense public pressure to add more teams. It should be noted that the owner of Peshawar Zalmi, Javed Afridi, revealed after the current PSL season that the two upcoming PSL teams will be from Sialkot and Faisalabad.

“There is immense pressure to increase the number of teams in PSL, but unfortunately Ehsan Mani and Ramiz Raja made an agreement with the franchises that only six teams will play in the next two years. However, it was an eight-team project. We have to convince the franchises to include two more teams. No one will lose anything, and if a franchise suffers a loss, the PCB will take responsibility,” said PCB’s chairman, Najam Sethi.
