ChatGPT’s Deep Research tool is set to transform AI-assisted research by enabling users to compile reports from hundreds of online sources. OpenAI recently introduced this powerful feature, which allows ChatGPT to analyze vast amounts of data, synthesize key insights, and generate reports comparable to those produced by research analysts.

ChatGPT’s Deep Research Tool Enhances AI Capabilities

The Deep Research tool extends beyond traditional chatbot functionalities by enabling in-depth data analysis. Users can upload files such as PDFs and spreadsheets, allowing ChatGPT to incorporate external documents into its research. Depending on the complexity of the query, the tool may take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes to generate a comprehensive report, with a side panel displaying progress and source citations.

OpenAI highlights that this tool can be accomplished in minutes, which would typically take a human hours. However, the company acknowledges certain limitations, such as occasional factual inaccuracies or difficulty distinguishing authoritative sources from unreliable information. Despite these challenges, OpenAI remains optimistic that continued usage and refinements will improve accuracy and performance.

Future Expansion Plans

Currently, access to ChatGPT’s Deep Research tool is limited to Pro users subscribing to the $200 per month plan, with a cap of 100 queries per month due to high computational demands. OpenAI is working on a more cost-effective version allowing access, including availability for Plus users within the next month.

While European users will have to wait due to regulatory restrictions, OpenAI is actively testing the tool’s safety before expanding its reach. As AI research capabilities evolve, ChatGPT’s Deep Research tool is poised to become an indispensable asset for analysts, businesses, and researchers alike.
