On Saturday, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested a gang supposedly involved in activating mobile SIMs by utilizing fake fingerprints, as per recent reports.
The Gang Uses Fake Fingerprints to Activate Mobile SIMs
According to details, the FIA team conducted a raid in Sargodha and arrested the accused supposedly involved in activating mobile SIMs through the means of illegal activities. “We have recovered a laptop, mobile SIMs, and fingerprints from their possession,” the Federal Investigation Agency stated. The accused gang further used fake fingerprints to activate fake mobile accounts.
A Similar Case of Activating Mobile SIMs Using Illegal Methods Occurred Last Year Also
In addition to this, a similar incident occurred back in July last year, the cybercrime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested a gang supposedly involved in activating mobile SIMs and selling them through illegal biometric machines from Lahore. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team arrested the gang of young boys and owners and workers of the franchise of a private mobile corporation for their supposed position in the whole scam from the Shahdara section of the city.

The Team of FIA Seized All the Possessions at the Time of Arrest
Moreover, the franchise owner of the private mobile company employed young boys for selling SIMs activated through illegal means and using fake fingerprints. The FIA team seized internet devices, SIMs, mobile phones, and laptops from their possession. A case was also filed against them at the cybercrime police station of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
