Google Calendar has expanded its functionality by allowing users to specify their working location not just for entire days but also for specific portions of the day. This ‘specific working location’ update is particularly useful for individuals who work from multiple locations, such as their home, office, or specific buildings. By providing this level of detail, users can easily communicate their whereabouts to colleagues, making coordination and scheduling more efficient.
Enhancing Communication and Collaboration
With the new feature, Google Calendar users can now set their working location for different parts of the day. For example, one can specify working from home in the morning and being in the office in the afternoon. This level of granularity aids coworkers in identifying the user’s whereabouts at any given time, facilitating communication, and scheduling meetings, whether in-person or virtually.
Accessing the ‘Specific Working Location’ Update and User Eligibility
The feature is being rolled out today, granting users the ability to set their working location within calendar events. By selecting the “Working Location” option as an event type and choosing the desired location, users can easily communicate their availability. Moreover, users can modify the date, time, or recurrence of the event by clicking on the time element. The new feature is available for users on various Google Workspace tiers, including Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Fundamentals, Education Standard, Education Plus, the Teaching and Learning Upgrade, and Nonprofits.
