Google Maps is introducing new features that will make it easier to navigate national parks using the app. These features are intended to help users find the information they need when visiting a US national park, such as discovering things to do and finding their way around the park.
New Features to Easily Hike Through the US National Parks
The features introduced by Google Maps are as follows:
1. See what a park’s must-do attractions are:
Search for the park and you’ll see photo highlights for key attractions, like Old Faithful. Tap on any of the photos to get even more details — like videos and reviews — from people who have been there before.
2. See the popular trails:
When someone search for a trail, Google will highlight its entire route on the map, instead of just a pin, so you can easily identify where it starts and ends and what the route looks like.
3. Detailed Directions:
Users will start to see park entrances highlighted on the map, and upon requesting walking or cycling directions to a particular trail, Maps will direct them right to the trailhead.
4. Offline maps:
It’s hard to predict reliable cell coverage in national parks. So users can just tap the download button on the park’s Google Maps listing to download it for offline use.
