According to recent reports, the federal government would now invest an amount of PKR 31 billion to establish an Information Technology (IT) Park in Karachi aimed at giving space, related conveniences, and services to IT division corporations.
“The IT park in Karachi is the part of government strategy to develop IT zones and software parks besides setting up purpose-built software technology parks in major cities of the country,” stated a senior official of the Ministry of Information Technology.
The IT Park in Karachi Will Help Create 5000 IT Jobs
Furthermore, he said that these IT zones, software, and technology parks would help promote efficient and cost-effective collaboration, digitalization, R&D entrepreneurship, and innovation to satisfy the requirements of the modern era. He said that the IT park in Karachi
would provide at least 5000 IT jobs to the youth after its completion.

“The setting up of IT parks will not only give a fresh impetus to the IT sector, but it will also provide job opportunities for the people,” he added.
The IT park in Karachi, he said, would house around 210 IT companies having 8,400 employees. The project comprises a multi-story office building. The park would be spread over an area of 106,449 square meters with eight floors above the ground and three basement floors.
The Technology Park Will Attract Foreign Business Collaboration
The said IT park in Karachi will offer a platform to the industry and regional universities to build synergies. It will further attract foreign business collaboration and global IT organizations as anchor tenants and investors. He said the IT park in Karachi would enhance the provision of workspace and allied infrastructure conveniences for IT and IT-enabled services (ITeS) companies and promote the growth of the IT industry.
The project would additionally assist improve the formation of IT clusters, improve export revenues and showcase Pakistani innovations and services in the IT sector before the worldwide audience and clients. The IT park building would have offices, a daycare center, amenities, parking, etc. It will have an ICT system, security features, and a data center. “There will be post-project operational support for the IT park management two years after its completion,” he added.
