It is pertinent to mention here that India’s young left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is facing the heat on social media for dropping a crucial catch on Pakistani batsman Asif Ali, which affected the result of the game. Later, he was chosen to bowl the final over but was unable to defend seven runs.

Indian Government to Question Wikipedia Officials Regarding Arshdeep Singh’s Wikipedia page

According to an Indian newspaper, a panel from the Indian government will question Wikipedia officials about how the online encyclopedia is edited and how modifications such as those were made possible to Arshdeep Singh’s Wikipedia page. As per edit history, an unregistered user replaced the words “India” with “Khalistan” at several locations on Arshdeep Singh’s Wikipedia page, but these changes were undone within 15 minutes by the Wikipedia editors.

According to media reports, the Indian government believes that the disinformation could disturb communal harmony and also lead to a law and order situation for the cricketer’s family. The MoS Electronics & Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar said, “No intermediary operating in India can permit this type of misinformation and deliberate efforts to incitement and user harm – violates our government’s expectation of Safe & Trusted Internet.”
