On Wednesday, Federal Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed launched the upgraded Pakistan Online Visa System (POVS). The previous system, inaugurated in March 2019, included a cumbersome process with no access through smartphones and tablets.

Furthermore, the overhauling includes making the Pakistan Online Visa System (POVS) user-friendly, guaranteeing a sturdy and secure interface compatible with all devices. Conversing on the occasion at the National Database and Registration Authority’s (Nadra) headquarters, the interior minister stated that the online application was supporting tourism in Pakistan and was an incentive in creating a positive perception of the country.
POVS Has Spurred Economic Activities in the Country
The Interior Minister further said that the ease of access to Pakistan through the Pakistan Online Visa System (POVS) has enhanced Foreign Direct Investment and encouraged financial activity in the country. Over 600,000 applications have been collected so far from 180 countries through the online visa system, he continued.

In addition to this, reflecting on the occasion, Nadra chairman Tariq Malik hoped the recent upgrades to the Pakistan Online Visa System (POVS) would help lessen the application filing time by half. International travel has seen a major spike and the visa approval rate has reached 94 percent, he said. “My mission is to look at our services from the citizens’ prism and make public services available for all.”
Moreover, new classifications of medical tourism, CPEC visa, pilgrim visa, mountaineering and trekking visa have also been included in the Pakistan Online Visa System (POVS). The business visa policy has also been renewed, making visa acquisition possible within 24 hours.
