The software giant, Microsoft, is planning to put ads in Bing’s AI chat response. Caitlin Roulston, director of communications at Microsoft, said in a statement; “Yes, ads will show in the new Bing, specifically in chat (as they do in the traditional search results)…We’re still exploring new opportunities for ad experiences and will share more over time.”
How Will the Ads Look Like In Bing’s AI Chat Response
To have a rough idea, Debarghya Das showed what how the ads in Bing’s AI chat response will look like, he shared an example by asking about the cheapest Honda cars. After two of the sentences, there are citations with a small “Ad” box that appear to link back to Bing. The example shared by Das seems like a logical placement of an ad by Microsoft as it is a type of experience that most of the potential customers would like.

However, developer, John Solly, has a different opinion on it as he said that the whole point of AI is to have an unbiased non-human helper who objectively finds whatever is best for the user. Microsoft corporate vice president Yusuf Mehdi said that the company is “exploring placing ads in the chat experience as it wants to share the ad revenue with partners whose content contributed to the chat response.”
