The popular Korean season, Squid Game, is back with another season. As confirmed by Netflix in a Twitter post along with a director’s note; “Red light… GREENLIGHT! Squid Game is officially coming back for Season 2!” However, there’s no official confirmation about the release or production dates.

Hwang Dong-Hyuk confirms the return of Squid Game Season 2 and other characters
In an official statement, Hwang Dong-Hyuk, the director, writer, and executive producer of Squid Game confirmed the return of Squid Game Season 2. He also confirmed the return of Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hun. “It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever. As the writer, director, and producer of Squid Game, a huge shout out to fans around the world. Thank you for watching and loving our show. And now, Gi-hun returns. The Front Man returns. , Season 2 is coming. The man in the suit with ddakji might be back. You’ll also be introduced to Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-su. Join us once more for a whole new round,” the director said in a note.
The biggest launch in the history
In October 2021, the video streaming giant confirmed that Squid Game was the biggest launch in the history of Netflix which had alone drawn 111 million viewers to the platform in its first month. Later in November 2021, Netflix also confirmed that Squid Game had become the most-watched show ever with 1.6 billion hours of viewership. The show narrates the story of cash-strapped contestants who play childhood games for a chance of winning life-changing sums of money.
