Netflix has restored ABC’s mostt popular reality show, The Mole, which will premiere on the platform on 7th October 2022. Netflix has also dropped a trailer where the host Alex Wagner was heard saying “Welcome to a new generation of deception,” in her most serious voice.
The Mole – A High Stakes Competition
The Mole is a high-stakes competition between 12 contestants who are placed in a team who went through a series of competitions and tests designed to test their abilities. However, one person on the team is actually working against the team in order to sabotage their missions and thus reduces the total amount of money in the prize pool; hence, The Mole.
The series is based on the Belgian format originally titled “De Mol”, created by Bart De Pauw, Michel Vanhove, Michiel Devlieger, and Tom Lenaerts and distributed by Primitives. The Netflix Version of the series will be hosted by Alex Wagner along with a carefully curated cast, including; Avori Henderson, Greg Shapiro, Casey Lary, Dom Gabriel, Jacob Hacker, Joi Schweitzer, Kesi Neblett, Osei White, Pranav Patel, Samara Joy, Sandy Ronquillo, and Will Richardson.
ABC’s OG Show
The OG Mole show on ABC aired for five seasons between 2001 and 2008. The show was first hosted by Anderson Cooper for two seasons and he was later replaced by Ahmad Rashad. The fifth and final season, which returned to its original civilian format, was hosted by Jon Kelley. As per the official synopsis; “The Mole” is a high-stakes competition series, and in this reimagined version, 12 players work together in challenges to add money to a pot that only one of them will win at the end. Among the players is one person who has secretly been designated “the Mole” and tasked with sabotaging the group’s money-making efforts. In the end, one player will outlast their competition and expose the Mole to win the prize pot.”
