The Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan (USC) has recently partnered up with the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) and Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), which is the national telecom operator, to completely automate their stores throughout the nation.
Pakistan has observed a huge surge in digital transformation throughout the country after the COVID 19’s lockdown was imposed throughout the nation. Digitally influenced methods have led to tremendous growth in the economy that can be perceived on both micro and macro levels.
The government plans to incorporate more innovative modern tech like artificial intelligence, blockchain, automated inventory databases, and automation of production processes in the operations of the country. Therefore, limiting the conventional methods of performing business and managing operations.
This collaboration is amongst the national initiatives that have been taken under the Digital Pakistan Initiative directed by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Amongst the partners were the Federal Ministry for Industries and Production, Federal Ministry for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Federal Ministry for Defense Production, NRTC, USC, and PTCL.
The digitization of the utility stores throughout the country will incorporate more than 4,000 retail stores, 124 warehouses, 64 regional offices, 9 zonal offices along with all USC business processes including supply chain, warehousing, financials, human resources, and e-commerce are planned to be automated.
This new effort aligns with the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s vision of Digital Pakistan, USC will build a comprehensive technology upgrade to secure fast, responsible, and hassle-free customer services utilizing advanced technologies and automated means.
Moreover, once the business support preparation system implementation is achieved, procuring activity will become a structured method.
In addition to it, the entire inventory will be digitally controlled and USC will be able to determine the number of articles required, therefore, limiting both product curtailments and overloading. Digitization will allow USC to commence targeted subsidies for the poor segment of the community.
