On Monday evening, Twitter users began reporting broken links and image issues with the pictures showing a blank solid grey or brown color in place of the image and links being welcomed by an error message. Likewise, Tweetdeck users reported problems with the dashboard application which was also experiencing technical difficulties.

The Twitter Support account acknowledged the problem, saying; “Some parts of Twitter may not be working as expected right now. We made an internal change that had some unintended consequences. We’re working on this now and will share an update when it’s fixed.” After a few hours, the issue was fixed and a confirmation message was posted that reads; “Things should now be working as normal. Thanks for sticking with us!”

It is pertinent to mention here that Twitter has been experiencing a lot of glitches and service issues and most of it was attributed to the lack of staff that is constantly being reduced by job cuts. Experts believe that the limited staff and lack of experienced people in the team are causing the problem of frequent outages.
Twitter Glitches Due to Extremely Brittle Code: Musk
Twitter’s CEO, Elon Musk, jumped in to clarify the situation saying that it was a small API change that had massive ramifications. He further added that the company’s code stack would likely need to be completely rewritten because it’s extremely brittle for no good reason. A user jokingly replied to his tweet saying; “Have you tried resigning from the company to see if that fixes the problem?”
