The former CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, has launched a decentralized Twitter alternative – BlueSky – on Android. Created in 2019 as a BlueSky aimed to establish a new decentralized standard for social media platforms; however, it got separated from Twitter in 2021.
Features of BlueSky
BlueSky is a similar app to Twitter including all the features, such as; user search, following other users, and creating posts with photos. However, some features, such as direct messages, are not yet available. In order to download the app an invitation link will be required as it is still under closed beta.
CEO Jay Graber said; “Bluesky aims to create an open marketplace of algorithms that will empower developers to experiment with and publish algorithms that anyone can use. This approach is intended to allow users to customize their feed and regain control over their most precious resource: attention.”
Easy-to-use User Interface
The app features four different tabs similar to Twitter; including home, search, notification bar, and navigation drawer. The home feed has a “Following,” and “What’s hot” tab providing helpful suggestions for new users. A navigation drawer can be accessed by tapping the profile picture in the top-left corner, it provides options for settings, theme customization, and feedback submission.
