The United States has announced that it will award 16 government officials for their exceptional care of Onija Andrew Robinson, an American citizen who arrived in Karachi under unusual circumstances. The officials, including members of the FIA, police, and airport medical staff, are being recognized for their professionalism and dedication in handling Robinson’s case. A special ceremony to present certificates of appreciation is scheduled for February 18.

The 16 officers set to be recognised include Director of FIA Karachi Noman Siddiqui, Deputy Director of Immigration Bahawal Dosto, Assistant Director of Immigration Abdul Jabbar, Immigration Officers Ghulam Sarwar and Umar Daraz, and Police Officer Shabana JilaniOther officers who will be honoured include Noshin Akhtar, SHO Airport Kaleem Musa, Protocol Officer Syed Danish, Furqan Rahim, Sagheer Ahmed, Director Airport Security Force Ihsan Ullah, and several members of the airport medical staff, including Executive Director Shahid Rasool, Joint Director Muhammad Suleman, Deputy Director Yahya Tanu, and Dr Chuni Lal.

The US Consulate has confirmed that the 16 officials receiving recognition played a crucial role in ensuring Robinson’s well-being. Among them are FIA Karachi Director Noman Siddiqui, Deputy Director Bahawal Dosto, and several immigration and police officers who provided critical assistance. Additionally, medical personnel from Karachi’s airport, including senior doctors and administrative staff, will also be honored for their efforts.

The Case That Led to Recognition

Robinson’s journey took an unexpected turn when she traveled from Karachi to Dubai on February 7 but failed to board her connecting flight to New York. Concerned authorities launched a search after she was found wandering the streets of Dubai. Following intervention by US officials, Emirati authorities took her into custody and facilitated her return. The recognition of Pakistani officials highlights their role in ensuring her safety and well-being before her departure.
