WhatsApp has finally launched the native macOS app in public beta, previously available to a limited number of people with WhatsApp TestFlight access, but now everyone with a Mac can get it. According to WABetaInfo, “After releasing a very limited early-beta program of WhatsApp beta for macOS for a small number of people on TestFlight, WhatsApp has finally made the beta version of its new native app widely available for download on the official website in case you were unable to get it from the TestFlight app.”
Native macOS App To Be Much Faster and Efficient
Earlier, Mac users had to use the desktop version of WhatsApp, which has performance issues and does not have all the features that one gets with the stable version of the messaging app. The native macOS App will have a revamped user interface along with a dedicated app sidebar and a feature to drag and drop files from the device to chats.
“If you tried to get the beta from the TestFlight app, but the beta program is full, you can finally install the native app by downloading the dmg file from the official website,” says WABetaInfo. The new native app built using Mac Catalyst offers a more seamless experience for WhatsApp users on macOS: it has been optimized to take full advantage of Mac’s hardware, making for a faster and more efficient user experience.
Chat Transfer Feature
WhatsApp is also working on a new chat transfer feature that will allow users to move their chat history from one phone to another. According to WABetaInfo, the feature will provide you with more control over migrating your chats and messages. The feature is currently under development and may soon be available for users in a future update.
