Recently conducted a 43rd board meeting of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), regarding Ehsaas Payments at the BISP headquarters. Under the chair of the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Dr. Sania Nisthar emphasized the necessity to expedite the efforts being made to secure payments from cyber-attacks by initiating a committed Cyber Crime Control Wing.

“Cyber Crime Transparency is personally a priority for me; a multipronged effort is underway to ensure fast-tracked action in this regard”, Dr. Nishtar spoke while chairing the 43rdboard meeting of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), which is considered to be one of the 34 implementing agencies, hosted here.

The board contemplated upon a wide-ranging 19-item agenda along with an extension of Ehsaas Nashonuma, launching of mobile wallets for Ehsaas One Woman One Account initiative, the establishment of Cyber Crime Control Wing, agreement with NADRA to allow easy payments to next of kins under Ehsaas Kafaalat, constitution of steering committees for Ehsaas Nashonuma and Ehsaas Taleemi-Wazaef and accident insurance coverage for monitoring teams of Ehsaas Talemi-Wazaef.

Dr. Sania Nishtar along with the said agency officials also conducted a meeting with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) team on 11 November 2020 to discuss options for the union between Ehsaas and ADB in the future. Explaining to the board about the flagship program, Dr. Nishtar said, “Districts with the highest stunting rates are being included.

For now, 22 Nashonuma Centers have already opened in nine districts. Overall, 52 Nashonuma centers will be established in 12 districts”, moreover informed in the meeting.
The board also gave go-ahead for “Ehsaas One Woman One Account initiative”, to enable the opening of mobile wallets for Ehsaas Kafaalat beneficiaries, as stated in the meeting.

“We will invest in financial literacy to promote uptake and believe this will significantly impact individuals’ abilities to escape poverty”, Dr. Nishtar shared.

The board meeting was graced by the presence of Yusuf Khan Secretary BISP, Muhammad Ali Shahzada Secretary Poverty Alleviation, and Social Safety Division, Ghufran Memon Secretary Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination, Additional Secretary (Exp.) Finance Division, and representatives of NADRA and EAD.
